Slicer5, object is not manifold solid

can anyone please help me out with this. Im not at all able to make this solid.
thesis 4.skp (1.2 MB)

you have a lot of… I’m gonna say small trash here and there. nothing big, just faces that survived inside and outside, and with the materials, it’s not super easy to spot them (solid inspector helps)

let me quick clean that and I’ll be back to tell you if that was all
(sometimes, it’s a good idea to delete a face and get inside to check)

thesis 4 clean.skp (1,2 Mo)

yeah, a lot of tiny triangle faces like on the screenshots, having solid inspector activated in the overlay really helped.

I need to ask, did you do that in Sketchup, or did it come from another software ?

if you did that in Sketchup, I’m curious about your process, you took the geo location terrain, made it thick, projected shapes on it and moved / push-pulled ?

(edit : oh yeah it’s a solid now btw. did a bit of cleanup too, nothing much on this front though)

THANK YOU SO MUCH  ! Appreciate it
And yeah I got those extensions from sketchup itself (extension warehouse). I used geolocation, joint push or pull and slicer for the contours. The terrain was’nt accurate si i had to manually draw lines and pull it later!
And did you clean up everything manually?? If so thats really amazing!!

You can use cleanUp3 from thomthom or Fix101 to clean and correct errors in your model, also make sure to purge it every now and then, specially if you download models from the 3D warehouse.

yep, nothing magical, plugins are great but they can’t automatically decide what to keep and what to delete. I used the new overlay panel to keep solid inspector open, that way all the problematic faces were red. and I just went in with my eraser.
for the inside, I deleted a small face, went inside (using the visit tools) and cleaned stuff from the inside.

3d modelling is not that hard, it just takes time. Often, even at my level mistakes comes from trying to cut corners, go faster and gain time. you click on an extension advertised as a magical tool, it doesn’t help, you try another, another… and you end up spending 30 min when you could have cleaned it by yourself in 10 min with the eraser tool.

I didn’t clean the bottom of your model, sure, cleanup extension would probably bear results, or, again, 5 min with the eraser tool.

take your time. it’s the most valuable advice you can get on modelling 3d. take your time.

Will sure follow! Thank you so much! :grinning:

 okay thanks!

I have the same problem i tried evrything and nothing working

What is “evrything”? Share the .skp file so we can see what you’ve got to work with.

What version of SketchUp are you really using? Your profile says SketchUp for Schools 2023. There is no such thing. SketchUp for Schools is a web-based version for young school children and it doesn’t have any option to use extensions. Are you actually using a cracked version of SketchUp 2023?

Im new on sketchup so I don’t know much about extensions

And what version are you really using?

SketchUp 2023

Cracked?

Please fix your forum profile.

The object you made is not solid. It has exposed reversed faces (in blue), nested objects, and surfaces borders indicating holes in surfaces.

You’ll have to fix those issues.

In order to be considered a solid a group or component must contain nothing but edges and faces. Every edge must be shared by exactly 2 faces. No more and no fewer. So no stray edges, no holes in surfaces, and no internal faces. Also all faces must be correctly oriented such that their white front faces are toward the outside.

I’m new to SketchUp, so I’m not sure I fully understand the issue. Do I need to redo it?

Start by going through the tutorials at learn.sketchup.com

Redoing it after learning to use the tools correctly would probably be easier than fixing what you’ve got.

Please correct your forum profile so the information makes sense.

okay thank you

Hello Every Body I have the same problem i tried evrything and nothing working

when i try to slice the object, can’t

A screenshot doesn’t tell us much. It isn’t a solid, so there is a hole somewhere or a stray edge or an extra face etc that needs to be fixed. You have solid inspector, it should show you where the errors are.
You say in your Profile, Free Plan 2021 Pro, if this is the cracked version you’ll need extra advice on how to fix it?

i already check with solid inpector, but solid inspector can’t fix the problem
