SketchUp to Revit

Greeting,

I would like to export SketchUp to Revit. There are some workflows I have tried but none of them work.

  1. Export to IFC file first. It takes more than 20 minutes to export. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work.
  2. Import to Revit using link CAD, it takes very long as well.
  3. Export to dwg. Some of the 3D geometry are missing.

The file is large in SketchUp and have purged the model. Any advice would be appreciated.

It kind of depends on what you would like to do in Revit:
https://help.sketchup.com/en/revit-interoperability/sketchup-to-revit#:~:text=SketchUp%20as%20a%20Link&text=To%20use%20a%20SketchUp%20file,similar%20to%20SketchUp’s%20origin%20point).
Just pressing export to ifc does not map the components to the ifc entities by itself. Revit uses those ifc entities to map them to their categories.

SketchUp uses faces and edges to generate its models. Revit uses solid objects. Usually SketchUp objects cannot be imported into Revit as native Revit objects, so that after import, Revit can show them but they cannot be edited. Another glitch is that Revit cannot smooth the edges that are smoothed in SketchUp.
