Sketchup Pro 2019 Classic License - Add License button does nothing on a new computer

Hello,
I have a legitimate perpetual SketchUp Pro 2019 Classic Single-User license, originally purchased from an authorized Polish SketchUp reseller ProGrupa. I still have the original license document with my Serial Number and Authorization Code.
I am trying to activate SketchUp Pro 2019 on a new computer that has never been activated with this license before.
When the computer is connected to the Internet, I cannot get the normal license activation form to appear. Clicking Add License does not bring up the fields for entering the Serial Number and Authorization Code.
When I disconnect the computer from the Internet, I can access the Advanced activation screen with the large field saying:
“Copy and paste your license info below”
However, after entering the license information, clicking Add License does absolutely nothing. There is no error message and the license is not activated.
I have also tried creating an activation_info.txt file containing my Serial Number and Authorization Code and placing it in the SketchUp 2019 ProgramData folder, but this did not solve the problem.
The license worked as a perpetual SketchUp Pro 2019 license, and I have the original purchase/license documentation. I understand that SketchUp 2019 is no longer supported, but I would like to know whether there is still a way to activate my existing perpetual license on this new computer.
I noticed another recent forum thread where a user had a very similar issue with a SketchUp Classic license and a SketchUp team member was able to check the license details privately.
Could someone from the SketchUp team please check my license and advise me on what can be done?
I can provide my Serial Number, Authorization Code and proof of purchase privately if required.
Thank you.

that would be @colin

He’ll be around.

the fact that it doesn’t allow you to activate while offline is normal, it need internet to confirm your licence.
the fact that you can’t enter it while online is odd but not unheard of.
not long ago someone had the same issue on a mac, VPNs and antivirus can block the page. check if disabling them helps (while you wait for Colin to come around) ?

This is how my classic license starting window looks like while online, there is no option to fill in with my license number

That’s a web browser based screen that is not loading properly

I would guess you’ve got something blocking it.
I’d turn my attention to any anti-virus / VPN/ Ad blockers/security packages you are using.

Beyond them blocking the traffic, SketchUp 2019 , now has various security vulnerabilities and some of these kinds of softwares can prevent SketchUp from functioning

Thank you. I have done some more testing.

I completely uninstalled Norton, tried a different internet connection using a mobile hotspot, and I have now also updated SketchUp from 19.2.222 to the final SketchUp 2019 version, 19.3.253.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. With an internet connection, the Classic License → Add License screen still does not load properly and I cannot enter the serial number or authorization code.

This is a new computer and this installation has never previously been activated with this license.

I have also found the current SketchUp documentation stating that Classic Licenses can no longer be used to authorize new installations of unsupported SketchUp versions.

Could this be the actual reason why the licensing screen is no longer working, rather than something being blocked on my computer?

I have a legitimate perpetual SketchUp Pro 2019 license with the original serial number, authorization code and purchase documentation. Is there any way for someone from SketchUp to check my license privately and confirm whether it can still be activated on this computer?

I do not use adblockers or vpn

Dezmo, on the other thread, might have a point

several similar issues in a few days, it could be related. did someone unplug the wrong machine at trimble’s HQ ?

Oh, it might be the annual maintenance…

Your 2019 license is activated on three computers, that may be why problems are happening. Normally you would solve that by trying to remove the license from an older computer. In your case though, you have a 2021 license available. If you don’t mind using 2021 instead of 2019, you could do that instead.

I will send the 2021 license to you.

I logged out from my other accounts and also I was opening the program while not logged in and it was still not showing the activation options, so I really didn’t know what else I can do.

Thank you for sending the 2021 license - it works well.

Thanks a lot for helping

Hi @colin

I am experiencing almost exactly the same issue with my SketchUp Pro 2019.3 Classic Perpetual License.

I have 2 perpetual license, but when I click Add Classic License, the activation window appears completely blank, and I am unable to enter my Serial Number and Authorization Code.

I would really appreciate your assistance. Thank you!

You have a lot of licenses, and all of them are only using SketchUp 2019, but do have a SketchUp 2020 license available.

If you click on my avatar you can then send a message to me. Let me know the serial numbers for the licenses you’re trying to use, and I will see if there are any problems with them.

I have a SketchupPro 2018 license. I am not being able to use it on my new compter. The classic license tab come out blank.

i would like to clarify that this issue is not limited to a single user’s PC or an existing SketchUp installation.

The user has a legitimate SketchUp Pro 2019 Classic License, including a valid serial number and authorization code.

We have tested SketchUp Pro 2019, SketchUp Pro 2020, and SketchUp Pro 2021 on multiple computers, including my own laptop, another user’s laptop, and a computer that has never had SketchUp installed before.

The issue is consistent across all these devices: the Classic tab is completely blank, and the “Add License” option does not appear.

We have also tried reinstalling and repairing SketchUp, but the issue remains unchanged.

Since the same issue occurs across multiple devices and different SketchUp versions, could you please investigate whether there is a licensing service or server-side issue affecting the Classic License activation interface?|690x467](upload://nxYppONCKLTyvazMxdUxcK63Cjw.png)

it’s being investigated.
and it’s server side.

By compare the license file with trial and activated system.
The license file is server sided activation so now the activation server either is having issue or they shut down the server to retire all classic license.

Hi, do you have annoucement link show they are investigating it.
Please share. i need show to my colleague also. Thank you.

the link is in my message.

it’s Colin, who works at trimble, saying “I am trying to know from colleagues if there is a known problem happening”

if you expect an official press release, it’s likely there won’t be one. classic licences are not supported anymore, and any question you ask to support related to it will prompt the “you should get a subscription” answer.

so right now, your best hope is Colin finding out what’s going on.

I have a legit Sketchup Pro 2020 License bought from Cadsoft Solutions that I haven’t used for some time and just went to install it on my new PC. I am also getting the blank screen for inputting a classic license details. I paid for this software which was sold as perpetual, so it legally needs to work. If Trimble don’t wish to support it then remove the need for online activation.

This is NOT installed anywhere else even if it once was as those machines were dismantled to components ages ago.

I still don’t have an answer to the problem, but I’ve mentioned elsewhere that this seems to be affecting 2020 and below.

I will check to see if perhaps there is a 2021 version available for your license.
