SketchUp Patch 2025.0.1

A notable patch release for Windows users went out yesterday that will help solve two specific bugs reported recently.

The first, and most critical bug, was one caused when a user added a custom URL for checking online status. This would then prevent SketchUp from launching, causing a silent crash. This was a particularly problematic issue recently when a localized Bing outage caused a number of users to change their URL for checking online status leading to the crashing issue described.

The second was an issue called out by a number of users where a pause between double clicks was required when trying to access a group or component, making it difficult to model effectively when elements were deeply nested.

Keep an eye out for another upcoming patch as well, and please continue to report the bugs you find!

as a comment it would be worth updating the link to the new version as I am told that it sends me to the old installation.

I dropped the links out of the post all together so there would be no confusion there. The latest version can be found in the downloads section of SketchUp.com.

It is possible to use the Check for Update menu in SketchUp to get to this new version. One thing to know, the fixes were Windows only, and so although the Mac version has been updated, the new version doesn’t have any difference from the previous one, and so doesn’t show up if you check for updates on Mac.

@TedVitale_SU this one is from 2024:

just be patient they will go fix it*

This patch seems to have fixed the problem with the latest Nvidia drivers, at least for me.

There wasn’t anything in the update that should have affected Nvidia issues, but I did see a post somewhere else where an Nvidia driver update had helped. Might there have been one of those recently as well?

We patiently celebrated the 1st anniversary of this bug. personally I’d prefer fixing it (and other ones) instead of all this AI\PBR buzz

you mean the bug that is complex because it doesn’t impact all users (some PC, some mac, some ipad and some even web), doesn’t impact them all the time, you might try three times and only get one crash, doesn’t always impact them on the rotate but sometimes on the move or offset tool ? that bug ?

I must be doing the radial array thing incorrectly because I’ve never seen a crash with it. Nor with linear arrays nor offsets.

I’m doing radial arrays from v2 BTW. I think you are not experience it because your models are not too complex

Maybe 6 months longer than I have. We’re old!

Seriously? Not complex?

I’m not talking about the beauty, quality of work or its value - you are unbeatable of course… but averagely a large hotel project is slightly more complex than a steam engine. based on my experience, those crashes randomly happen deep in many layers of context in heavy files.

I wasn’t talking about beauty or quality of work. Numerous radial and linear arrays in nested objects in this one. Never a crash.

Thank you for the compliment, though. I appreciate it.

 ok I still hope this non-existent bug will be addressed though

You should provide models and information that would help others to reproduce what you are experiencing. Just complaining won’t get anyone anywhere.

I sent in 3 or 4 bug splats doing radial arrays last week. 2025, macOS Sonoma.

I also have crashes every now and then when I do radial arrays, it’s not so frequent but it’s annoying when it happens. I’ve also sent a few bug splats.
