If I donāt have an external monitor? Upgrading to the current version (subscription) will fix the problem?
Old thread but worth a comment. One other person on this thread posted that using SideCar fixed the problem. I can confirm this workaround works for me as well. Mac Mini M1, running Big Sur, with an old iPad for Sidecar. Once I start Sidecar and re-open the file, the text shows normally.
Thereās a new tool that fixes some issues with external monitors on M1 Macs. Lo and behold, it also fixes the mirrored and upside down text! The name of the tool: BetterDummy. You can find it on GitHub GitHub - waydabber/BetterDisplay: Unlock your displays on your Mac! Smooth scaling, HiDPI unlock, XDR/HDR extra brightness upscale, DDC, brightness and dimming, dummy displays, PIP and lots more!. I found using BetterDummy a little bit clunky, so I only plan to run it, when I want to use Sketchup.

Hard to say. Your forum profile is vague. āFree Planā refers to SketchUp Free which is the web based version. It doesnāt have any issues with displaying dimensions correctly. Are you actually using SketchUP 2017 Make? Which operating system version? āMacā doesnāt give us enough information.
This issue is a Mac problem that was reported initially more than three years ago related to SketchUp 2017 Make. It might be Apple fixed it in a later OS release. There havenāt been any recent reports of this issue. There is nothing to set in SketchUp that would fix this, though.
I have a downloaded version of the desktop āMake 2017ā oinstalled on a mac mini from about 2014
recently updated to Monterey OS. Years ago i had the sketchup free. Talked to apple today and they were not much help. I just installed BetterDisplay software. but so far no improvment.

Trimble hasnāt supported SketchUp 2017 in nearly 6 years. You must have gotten it from an unauthorized source if you just downloaded it. Unless Apple fixes the issue with the graphics thereās really nothing you can do. Print out the views of your model and turn the paper over so you can read the dimensions.

Click on your avatar at the top right of the forum screen. Click on the person icon followed by Preferences and then Profile. It should be self-explanatory from there. Remember to scroll to the bottom to save the changes.
For me specifically what fixed the issue after installing it was to select from BetterDisplay options: in āDisplay Modeā I selected the resolution that was the same size as I was originally using but had an N instead of a D right before the resolution itself.
