Hello Everyone. I started using the free SketchUp app and created a model then purchased 2026 Pro and opened the model I had created in Free from Trimble Connect. Did a BUNCH of work on it and then tried to save it and got an alert saying that I can’t save it unless I save it to an earlier edition. As I have no earlier edition this is not possible. Is my only option to start from scratch?
I saw the post from Desmo about a fix for saving older versions with newer but does that door swing both ways?
Any help is greatly appreciated. I’ve had to leave my work open just to avoid losing it.
There have been reports of this in SU2024. I was trying to find any posts that show a fix short of saving as an older version but I didn’t find anything yet. Maybe @colin knows.
What do you mean by this? You should be able to open the older version of the model in SketchUp 2026, if that’s what you are asking.
Where were you trying to save the file to? Have you tried saving it to your Trimble Connect storage?
Are you trying to save it back to TC or to your computer?
Are you trying to save this from the web or from SketchUp 2026 desktop?
If you are in the web version - use the “download” option to create a local copy - at least your saves won’t be entirely lost.
If it’s back to TC then I’d take your Sketchup 2026 file isn’t being allowed to overwrite the original file in trimble connect as it is a lower version originally?. Perhaps there isn’t a message that makes that clear/it’s a bug.
I would save a local copy and then manually ovewrite it in TC later.
I uploaded my saved model from TC onto 2026 version. Then when I tried to save it I got a msg saying that I am unable to save, try saving to an earlier version like 2020.
I tried saving to TC and that didn’t work either.
I ended up getting the extension by Desmo and that seems to have worked.
