Have you checked which operating systems are supported by SketchUp 8 (released 2010, last patched 2013)?
You may want to wait for an update, but the update will either be released for SketchUp 2015 or whatever follows after that.
Crashes can of course also have other reasons caused by the environment, and may be solved by a driver update, operating system update, or using compatibility modes of your OS.
I installed Windows 10 this weekend. I don’t regularly use SketchUp 8, but I have not experienced any crashing so far when I do run it.
What exactly doesn’t work?
try setting the properties of Sketchup.exe to “run as administrator”.
