SketchUp 2025 - Failed to open document after sudden power failure (100% completed client project)

Hi everyone,

I need urgent help.

I was working on a 100% completed client project in SketchUp 2025 when my PC suddenly lost power due to an electricity outage.

After restarting, both files are no longer opening.

Error:
“Failed to open document.”

Project details:
• SketchUp Version: 2025
• Main file: office.skp (58 MB)
• Backup file: office.skb (58 MB)
• Both files show the same error.
• I have already tried renaming .skb to .skp.
• No usable autosave or recovered file was found.

This is a completed client project, so I would really appreciate any help recovering the model.

Thank you.

Share the files so we can see if there’s any fix for them. Upload them to DropBox or another file sharing service and provide the links.

So you have a current SketchUp subscription? Were you by any chance also saving backups to Trimble Connect?

Please correct your forum profile. “2025” is not an operating system and “8gb” is not a graphics card model.

Do you use TimeMachine or whatever the equivalent backup software for Windows is?

Have you tried opening it in 2026?
