Can’t get SU 2024 to open… It worked yesterday, then today gave me issues. I have uninstalled all versions of SketchUp and reinstalled 2024 (as administrator) and it’s till crashing on startup. I am trying to open the “Simple - Inches” template, nothing else… No bug splat
Still having this issue. Only successful launches are when I open a model from the Layout References window. It still takes 4-5 attempts to get Sketchup to load completely without crashing.
That is a new one for me @guidepro. Did you open a support ticket? If you did, I can go over to our support team and check the status of your support ticket to se if we can get someone looking at your case as soon as possible. If you did not open a ticket in our system, go ahead and do so as soon as possible so we can get you in the official system.
Thanks for the response, I just submitted a support ticket. Looking forward to hearing from you.
If you open File Explorer, and paste in this path:
%LocalAppData%\SketchUp\SketchUp 2024\SketchUp\
In that folder is PrivatePreferences.json. Either rename or delete that file, and see if SketchUp open up ok.
Ah All my toolbars and trays, licenses… gone
Sketchup did launch successfully. Would it be worth sending/sharing the old .json file?
Sketchup finally launched after a 5th attempt. (launching a project model from Layout)
I get this error in relation to the Scan Essentials Point Cloud RWP file:
I have the current version of Scan essentials installed. The point cloud referenced in this file was created in the same version and has not been a problem when the model was previously opened.
Hi again @guidepro, thanks for the post. I am not an expert on scan essentials, but it sounds like that might be the cause of your issue with SketchUp if it is the one throwing out error messages. To confirm that we will need to do a little more digging though.
I know it will be a bit of a pain, but if you can get into SketchUp, try manually disabling scan essentials and let me know if it is launching more reliably? If so, we know where to look to track down the error. If not, we will have to keep looking.
