Sketchup 2023 & 2024 - Line tool not working

I am using Sketchup 2024 on a M3 MacBook Pro 2024, and a M1 iMac. Every 5 to 15 min, the line tool stops working properly. I the line I am trying to draw doesn’t show until I complete it. Sometimes, by selecting another tool and then going back to the line tool will fix the problem (for another 5-15 min.) but most of the time it can be resolved only by saving the document, closing the application, and re-opening it again.

I have disconnected all peripherals and closed all other application on the computer(s) to see if it would improve but to no avail. Please note that I had the same problem when I was using the 2023 version, but the problem was not as frequent.

It is impossible to work on a large project when I have to logout and login again all the time.

Kindly advise. Thank you.

Mac OS Sequoia is not yet compatible with SketchUp. It will be probably the reason why you are suffering that problem

SU 2023 user on a PC here. I can attest, the line tool, as well as the label tool and measuring tool are 80% non-functional as of late.
Is Sketchup slowly being dismantled?
If you cannot draw a line, the software is completely invalid.
Tech support says, as always, its me, my graphics and my drivers.

there was a bug in the label tool in 2023. it is now fixed.
no issues in 2023 with dimensions or lines though.

Okay - I cannot take it anymore, so I’m stopping everything and downloading graphics updates. Fingers crossed. I’ll update to 2024 eventually, I just don’t have time for a complete reinstall for another few weeks.

Okay narrowing it down.
Driver updated.
Can draw lines.
Open a component, any component, and try to draw a line. Nothing. Crosshairs confirming start point. Crosshairs confirming end point. No line generated. Okay - try another component. Crosshairs confirm start point and end point, no line generated.
Almost 20 years using Sketchup, never experienced such non-functionality.
Any other thoughts?

Okay, trying preferences. Click-drag-release = no joy. Auto detect. Aha! seems to be working.
Makes no sense, but whatever. I have work to do and no more techy trouble play time.
