What other programs call Layers is simply a different feature. Tons of confusion has been caused by new users mistaking SketchUp “layers” for layers. Also this is only one of the changes, and probbaly one of the smallest.

Generically speaking…the word VIEW pops up for all sorts of items as you say, albeit typically qualified with a second word & more so in a sentence or in the pull-down menu. [image] Challey: Sadly, having saved the files for my current project in 2020 I am not able to open them in 2019 since its not backwards compatible That’s called forwards-compatible. As an example, SketchUp 2020 is not forwards-compatible to read SketchUp 2021 files.

I’m going to agree with you on this one. The layers to tag thing is really unnecessary. I would actually rather call them layers, that makes more sense to me. Even in AutoCad I would use layers to control things like lineweight and VISIBILITY. In my plugins I’m going to stick with the Layers nom…
