Sizing and Painting Live Components!

Hullo!

We’ve made some improvements to Live Components, and this is a quick rundown (You can get the in-depth scoop here)! The two main upgrades focus on Size and Paint, making LCs more usable and better integrated within your existing SketchUp workflows.

Resizing with the Scale tool
This is the main one! To put it simply, you can now use the Scale tool to size Live Components. You’ll find that most of the Live Components in the SketchUp Content Library on 3D Warehouse already have scaling grips enabled.

One key thing to note is that the scaling grips on a Live Component aren’t always tied to its bounding box. This is intentional and allows you to resize a component to fit precisely into the space it’s designed for, like a door into it’s frame while the door handle doesn’t get in the way!

Improved Painting
In a previous SketchUp release we added the ability to paint Live Components with your own SketchUp materials. We’ve continued to polish this workflow, and this update includes several tweaks and bug fixes to make the painting experience much smoother and more reliable.

Your feedback was instrumental in guiding these updates. We’ve been listening to your ideas, so keep 'em coming!

Cheers,
