In SketchUp Model Info there is that setting: “Show component axes”, but it doesn’t show axes of nested components. Only “first-level” groups and components have their axes displayed, but their “sub-groups” and “sub-components” don’t.
I can understand that it was probably designed with performance in mind, and maybe to prevent flooding our workspace with colorful arrows, as well.
Sometimes however, in complex models, I would like to inspect axes of my groups and components more thoroughly.
So I was thinking, would it be possible to write a plugin that would force displaying them all?
There could be another setting for that, in Model Info, right below “Show components axes”. It could be called “Show nested component axes”.
But I honestly don’t believe that SketchUp creators would introduce something like this in a following decade.
