I am using SU24. Trying to display shadows. When I turn shadows on, the model get ‘brighter’ but no shadows. I have looked everywhere with no luck. Any help with what may be the issue would be appreciated.

Did you turn on "Use sun for shadows? Without it, you won’t see any shadows as the light is coming from your “camera”.
Here’s a few settings to check.
Thanks much to the help I got here. Problem solved…

What was the actual solution? It might help others who come along with the same problem.
Ya sorry,
It was the shadow controls in the tray. Turned on use’ sun for shadows.’

So probably mark @Anssi’s post as the solution since he guessed correctly first. And @Box demonstrated it.

You should press this button under @Anssi 's comment to show that your problem has been solved.
I was actually wrong, as @Box pointed to me in a PM. Shadows always come from the sun and the setting I told about only affects the model shading when shadows are turned off. I haven’t checked if it was differnt in pre-2024 versions of SketchUp
thanks This worked
Just to be clear, ‘Use sun for shading’ only affects the shading on the faces of the model, it doesn’t make shadows appear.
You need to turn on shadows with the show/hide button for them to show.
