Is there a way to save files anywhere other than locally or Trimble connect on the iPad?
I keep all of my files in the cloud but when I’m creating new files on the iPad I can only see the options to save locally (downloads) or Trimble connect. I then need to open the files app and manually move files to the relevant iCloud Drive folder. Seems like an unnecessary extra step.
Working on files in the cloud and saving directly to the cloud is a recepy for disaster. Many people come here with files corrupted beyond repair because of that reason. Trimble Connect is the only cloud option that is safe, because it downloads the file to your local drive before opening and saves locally before uploading to Trimble Connect.
If you must use another cloud service or external drive for that matter, save locally and upload a copy after that. Same for opening, download a copy to your local drive and open that copy to work on..
So I guess SketchUp for iPad doesn’t have that option for a good reason.
From inside the model, there are two options, yes. Local (where I save because of lack of internet most of the time) and Trimble connect, which is honestly the easiest way to move models between the different versions of SketchUp if you also have pro.
Now… when in the Home Screen, you can choose to share a copy of the model. Keep in mind that it is indeed a copy and you would have to import it back down to use that particular copy.
Just use the little dots on the file to share a copy.
