Revit Importer

Anyone that purchases Sketchup Studio thinking the Revit Importer is going to be useful is nuts.

If the importer doesn’t work for 2-4 months after a new Revit release then your workflow will need to wait or be altered for 1/3 of the year and cause endless frustration.

I have been using SimLab SKP exporter from Revit, It’s cheaper than Studio, works with any version of Revit, it’s update delay is only about 1-2 weeks.

Simlab 3D Plugins - SketchUp exporter for Revit

Autodesk must be making it as hard as possible each year for Sketchup to write the new plugin because they don’t want cross workflows and for you to use FormIt. I would say this Importer being delayed every year is something you need to get used to for your extra $500.

AFAIK, the Revit file format is closed source without a file SDK.

So, it does make more sense to use a plugin from within Revit and its API.
