Rendering - what do you use it for?

If you’re someone who uses Rendering or Visualization aids with SketchUp I’m really curious to understand what you use it for.

For example, do you mainly use it to:

  • help you validate your own design
  • communicate your design ideas better to your client
  • produce marketing material to help your client sell the product / design you’re making for them

And if you’re using it to communicate the design ideas to others, what’s most important to you?

  • Photorealistic renderings
  • Ability to generate renderings fast enough to show alternative views in a meeting
  • Availability of styles that match your design aesthetic
  • Visualizing or interacting using Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality
  • something else?

Tell us more and also super keen to know which product you use!

Thanks for sharing!

We use it for communicating design ideas/variants, sell them and to produce marketing material. In our use case (architectural design) an efficient workflow, highly realistic results and VR for live demos is most important. Because of that we’re using Enscape - it just fits our needs the most.

Another vote for Enscape. All the points on your list are important and Enscape can address all of them. What is really great however is its speed combined with quality. Most conventional rendering software takes ages to get good results. Enscape offers real time rendering so different views can be tested with almost instant feedback.

It also works within SketchUp, is very easy to use and provides great results. It’s not too expensive either and they are constantly improving it.
