Recovered Files

Question - do you only have one option to open a recovered file in Sketchup Pro 2020? I tried to open the recovered file - the computer froze - when I went to reopen the recovered file was gone. I have lost quite a bit of work.

Thanks so much for your help!

There should be a file with the extension .skb in the same directory as the original .skp file. Did you try opening it?

You check to see if the recovered file still exists in User/AppData/Local/SketchUp/SketchUp 2020/SketchUp/working/SKETCHUP/recoveredFiles. It may still be there.

Unfortunately, in some cases the answer is yes, you only get one chance to recover a file. As I stated in the other thread with you, if you open a recovered file from the welcome window list of recovered files and then try to save that file, if that open recovered file fails to save for any reason (like a crash) the file is gone forever. I consider this a bug. I discuss some workaround insurance methods in the other thread.
