Recommendations for a new computer

As I am having issues with my graphics card, I am looking to buy a new system. Current one is a laptop that is over 3 years old and has becoming very slow.

Current specs: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-12700H (2.30 GHz), 16gb RAM, RTX3060 laptop.

What are your thoughts and recommendations? Looking at spending around $1.5k CAD before tax.

Leaning towards the desktop and I am thinking about these systems:

ARMOURY Intel i5-14400F GeForce RTX 5060 32GB RAM 1TB SSD Win11H

ARMOURY Intel i7-12700 GeForce RTX 5060 32GB RAM 1TB SSD Win11H

ARMOURY AMD Ryzen 7 7700 GeForce RTX 5060 32GB RAM 1TB SSD W11H

MSI Codex R2 | Ultra 7 265F | RTX 5060 | 32GB DDR5 | 2TB SSD | Win11H

Is your current hardware actually failing? Adding a somewhat newer model graphics card to a setup basically similar to your current one will not give a very noticeable boost to model performance. Generally most experienced slowdowns are due to model bloat. The added RAM is a good thing, though.

Ik would suggest a fresh install of windows as I think this is most likely the culprit. Having the same problem with my 3 year old laptop. Haven’t found the time to do it though..

Yeah, I have done the reinstalls before, and it might give me a performance boost for a bit. After a while, it will slow down again.

As I am self-employed, if I am dealing with computer issues, I am not making income. Therefore, I like to replace my computers every 2 to 3 years so I can take advantage of the quicker speeds - reducing idle time helps me avoid getting distracted and doomscrolling.

I ended up buying this system: ARMOURY Sentinel Gaming PC AMD Ryzen 7 7700, GeForce RTX 5060, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth, Windows 11

In that case you shouldn´t be buying laptops, you could save a lot of money by building a tower pc or pay someone to do it for you, usually cpu´s last longer than gpus, for example I have an intel 13700K, it has two years now and will be three soon, but it can still handle the most powerful gpu on the market, right now the RTX 5090, without any issues, I’ll just have to upgrade my power supply. I´m not saying that I will spend 3000 just on a gpu right now, but I could get a 4090 or even used 5080 for less than the price of a laptop and with a lot more performance.
