I think the speed at which you can create a gaussian spat from images/videos and the fact they they are more human readable makes they pretty interesting inside SketchUp.
Photogrammetry and Gaussian splatting are coming along very quickly and with the likes of Polycam and Sketchfab hosting so many assets having a 3D modeller which could edit and work with those outputs would be really interesting.
Gaussian splats are great to look at but until they can be combined with other assets or edited in 3D they lack some usability.
My dream work flow would be to video say an 50meter chimney, import the Gaussian splat (or other format) into Sketchup then be able to edit the mesh and add assets, to create a model and renders to show clients how we would dismantle said chimney.
