Question: Draping drapes linework but not colours

Hi!

I am new to SketchUp and am learning it for landscape architecture for uni. I am trying to drape, simply to practice draping for when I later do my project in 3D, a flat area onto a cadmapper generated 3D terrain mesh. It draped the linework but not the colours for some reason. Does anyone have any advice? All geometry has been set to layer 0.

Will be grateful for any advice!

That’s how draping works, you can use the paint bucket tool and the eye dropper to paint with the exact same colors the geometry you just crated with the drape tool.

If you’re using sketchup 2017, you should turn off profile edges, they will load your gpu and make your model laggy.

You can also apply for a student discount of sketchup if you’re studying in the University.

Note that the drape command creates a group with edges, not merging automatically with the underlying geometry.

Tig’s Super Drape will transfer materials.
