how do you stop the model from cutting off?
when i get close it starts to cut off like a section, is there a way to turn it off so i can get closer to my work
What you describe is called Clipping. There are numerous threads on this topic. To avoid it make sure you are modeling with the Camera set to Perspective, not Parallel Projection. Also make sure your model is close to the origin and not somewhere way out in space or spread across an extremely large area.
If you are seeing the clipping now, make certain the Camera is set to Perspective and then click Zoom Extents.
