I can’t tell from the official youtube videos from Aaron showing off the sketchup in quest 3:
Are the rendering options limited to those you can see in sketchup pro (not studio) natively?
I’m interested in how close to photoreal I can get with sketchup pro and quest 3.
Our Quest Viewer currently supports textures, and recently Ambient Occlusion, so not photorealistic in any way which is common for mobile VR apps like ours. Most photorealistic VR applications require connection to a PC with powerful graphics. Can you describe how you would like to use Quest and what drives your need for photorealism in VR?
Got it, thanks!
Photorealism is important to me because it helps address perhaps the quintessential problem in construction when it comes to design approval: the client doesn’t know what it will look and feel like until it’s built in real life.
3d models help. Photoreal renders help. VR closes the loop almost completely.
For some designs like steel fabrication, or other applications where “how it looks” is not as important as if it fits and works, VR with the stock sketchup styles works great.
But if I want my client to know the finishes are just right, or even how a window being two feet to the left will impact the lighting in the room, photoreal is worth the extra effort.
I’m happy to chat more if that would be helpful.
