Push/Pull shape from component

Hello everyone,
I would like to cut a shape in a leg of a table which is just a cube. At the moment i am just adding one cube on the top of another but what i would like to achive is to PULL/PUSH a shape.
Maybe a picture will be helpful. Red marked area is the one to be pulled from original cube (attached picture shows component as it should look like)

What version of SketchUp are you actually using? Your profile says SketchUp Fee (Web) 2016 which just isn’t possible.

If you must use Push/Pull to create the feature you are showing, draw a square on the top of the leg and pusj the L-shaped face down. Or pull the square up.
push

If the leg is allready a component as the title implies, then you have to open the component for editing first. double-click on the component does the trick. Or right-click on the component and choose edit component…

Everyone has a different take, and it’s always good to have more than one way. I see parallel offset to start.

And another, less efficient method.

Thanks to everyone who took part in solving my problem!
In the end tip from tweenulzeven did the trick and helped!
