Problem filling limited surface with texture or color

You need different software, they are out there.

Or paper and pencil, that still works…

I dont have the patience for that. Imagine to remove a line with tippex or gum?

It doesn’t matter if you use SketchUp or another sketch program, you will have to learn the basics of the software before you can use it…

Yes sir. Thanks to Box I got it how it works.

I have an additional question. Could I turn textures to make them look like the rest?

u hoeve 3.skp (10.6 MB)

Yes. it’s possible to apply the material correctly.

For such a simple model you’ve made it pretty coplicated. How is it you plan to use this?

How did you do it?

What is complicated about it? What makes a model complicated or not? Formfactor?
Also, you are not quickly pleased arent you? I have been using components, groups and tags and now it is still not to your likings

Same as above, to make my point to the architect

He is trying to lead you to the correct modeling procedures. There is such a thing as getting so tricky you outsmart yourself and make things harder than they need to be.

Starting at the SketchUp Campus is the easiest way to start learning the software. in addition SketchUp YouTube Channel has great tutorials demonstrating how to use the tools.

What exactly is going wrong?
Seems that Box is the only one with the right attitude to help someone out instead of pointing out their supiority without content.

Sorry you feel that way, we are all just SketchUp users trying to help others in our spare time…
I’ll spend my time on others who are more appreciative…

Indeed, I realize that probably it is better that I hire someone on fiverr to support me on fixing these issues than spending weeks to learn to pro level.
When I am done with this house, I don’t need SketchUp anymore as such there is no point for me to learn it to that point.

@Box are you on fiverr or available for private support?

If you still don’t want to learn, hire a pro to do it for you…

I think you miss the part where @Box left the room.

Everyone here is trying to be helpful. SketchUp is a very powerful and complex 3D program, It can take a while to learn and understand, even with an open mind. Many people come into contact with SketchUp loaded with preconceived notions either from using other CAD platforms or from their own ideas of how ā€œit should workā€. Neither of these are helpful and often lead to much more frustration in the learning process. You can certainly learn to use SketchUp with a small amount of effort and good instruction if you want to, many many others have.

The reason I want to draw is because me and my wife want to design into detail our house ourselves.
This will go much faster than that I’ll sit down with a pro and try to explain what I want and let him/her adapt and adapt and adapt and adapt to the point we are happy to involve the other project stakeholders for the next phase.
I understand that some of you say: Involve an expert to help you. Most likely you are one of those experts who would very happily like to start the hour rates clock to visualize what I want within the learnme section of SketchUp guidelines.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. I have adapted my working with SketchUp by using groups, components and tags like explained by sketchupessentials on YouTube and based on your feedback, which was valid to fix the previous issue with colouring.
Now that I have a small issue with a texture not sitting straight → start with the learn section. That does not fit in my requirement of time and effort.

In any case, I’ll move to fiverr for someone who I can hire, I do realise that asking free efforts from anyone isnt the basis of a good relationship.

Sorry that you think that’s what I was doing. I was trying to find out exactly what it is you need from the model to try to provide you with some good instruction. I guess you aren’t interested in that so I’ll leave you to it.

Why is that surface the only surface that is crooked and how to adapt?
This drawing is much more in detail because the groups and components and the nesting make it very easy to keep everything organized, however, when adding anything with the pencil, it doesn’t work as well.

But like said above, I am going to hire someone on fiverr to help me out.
Have a good evening and thank you for your efforts.
:beers::beers:

So, do you want to know or not?

Lets just move on.
A texture can be edited from the right click menu as long as you are selecting only one face.

Thank you!
Are you on fiverr or available for quick fix support?
