I would like to import various 3d models that have high poly count. This ill obv make my sketchup slower.
Is there a way that I can reduce the polygon count while working with sketchup and then increase them again while rendering on v ray. PS Never rendered on vray so far.
You can make and use proxy components instead of the heavier ones. What sort of objects are you thinking of? Maybe you really don’t need hi poly components even for rendering.
Vray has a tool to create proxys, you can choose the polygons count of the proxys and they will look well on the rendering viewport and output as well.
Its best practice to start with Chaos Cosmos for as many of your asset needs as you can. These are all ‘proxies’ by default. Then you can import and convert to proxies for specific assets you know you can’t get anywhere else.
Hi I would like to import a sofa 3d model. I have downloaded the attached from a website however it has multiple models. With the obj. importer I have reduced the number of faces significantly to make the file workable.
No, but you should have the original model or you can download it again.
I just remembered that there are plugins that will help you to reduce polygon count, universal importer is a great tool and it’s free and Transmutr can also transform models into proxys ready to use with vray, thea and enscape, skimp is one of the best importer plug-ins also.
