Plugins not working in Sketchup 2027

I’m very sad about the fact that many plugins that I use frequently aren’t working in the new version. None of the plugins from Mindsight Studio are working. They promised an update for today but it didn’t happen yet. Also the JHS Powerbar stopped working and there’s no update in sight. May be there are others not working too but I was so put off because of this failures that I stopped exploring further. So, sadly, I will continue to work with the 2026 version and miss all the exciting new features in version 2027.

This is exactly why I think classic SketchUp plugins should eventually become open source.

When a plugin stops working with newer SketchUp versions and the original developer is no longer maintaining it, at least the community could step in, fix it, and keep it alive.

JHS PowerBar is a perfect example of why preserving these older tools matters.

Be patient. It’s not even 7:30 in the morning where they are located.

What exactly isn’t working for you? I tested it a few tools and it’s fine.

I don’t know why, this is what I get on startup

I got BoolTools 2 a couple of days ago and Profile Builder 4 this morning UK GMT.

I’ve installed Slicer, and it’s working. If you were relying on copying the extensions folder from 2026, you should try installing them using the dedicated extension from SketchUcation instead.

I used the “migrate” option. I’ll try your method, thanks.

I hadn’t been too worried about the updates since I knew they were coming so I wasn’t even watching for an alert. Only one I’m waiting on now is Artisan.

Me too! I’m using Artisan a lot for terrain modeling and Profile builder too. I managed to revive JHS Powerbar and slicer, thank you all guys!

Artisan is here! now I need just the SketchPlus

The native ‘migrate’ tool is a PITA.

Using the SketchUcation ExtensionStore Bundle option to install the most up to date versions all of your extensions from the previous version to the new one is a safer option.
Occasionally an incompatible extension might get installed - a developer might have to consider dozens of extensions across all OSs anticipating changes to the new SketchUp version’s Ruby changes - an error might slip through. Only if you report an enduring issue in the relevant extension’s thread over at SketchUcation will you ensure it’s both seen and attended to. Several of us are on both forums, but direct contact is a more sensible approach…
For example I had no idea there might have been an issue with my Slicer extension until reading it here. The likely cause of some of these issues is the way that the ‘migrate’ tool misses out some vital subfolder files during its copying. The safest way is to [re]install everything ‘properly’.

As a result of the way that my ‘Slicer’ [and others] doesn’t play nicely with the ‘migrate’ tool I have decided to adjust its code and subfolder set up to try and avoid the PITA, rather than wait for SketchUp to fix its less than perfect tool… Watch for an announcement of a new Slicer version over at SketchUcation…
