…I only have the use of one hand, so need Sticky Keys for modifier-key presses. While SU works correctly with the Select Tool (one tap on alt to press modifier key, two to hold down modifier key, third to release modifier key), for Move and Rotate, the ‘+’ sign doesn’t appear until the Sticky Key is turned off (third press). Then, after a duplicate Move or Rotate, it reverts back to normal Selection mode. This means I can’t keep the modifier pressed for multiple instance duplications. It’s a small thing but it severely impacts my working efficiency.
I’m confused as to why you’re using stickey keys in sketchup, when all the modifier keys are already like that ?
it used to be that you had to hold the modifier key while doing the action. but for at least 5 years, modifier keys have been “one press only”.
on a normal config, you click on the move tool, press once on alt (no holding it) and you get the + next to your cursor.
The only 2 tools where you need to hold on the modifier keys are the select tool, and scale (it behaves weirdly).

I guess I just answered my question, you’re using the sticky keys because of the select tool. odd that it doesn’t act like all the other tools by default

Because I need to use Sticky Keys in every other application..? I’d have to turn STK on and off every time I switched between SU and other applications. And how would you suggest I multiple-select in the Outliner if STK is turned off..?
yeah, as I mentioned, while typing, I realised sticky keys were mandatory to select, my bad. that’s odd, they changed the way modifier keys work, but not in this specific case. could be an apple thing ?
ow, you mean duplicate one object, then press esc, duplicate another…? then yeah, this is not sticky key issue, it’s SU’s behaviour I think.
if you want to do multiple copies of a single object, you could press alt twice (4 times in your case? ) before starting to movbe the object, it switches you to stamp mode.
or… I wonder if there are plugins out there with a dedicated copy button (not move + alt)
