you’ve been accumulating piles and piles of stuff without thinking. and now it’s super bloated.
you have million of bits and bobs and never purged anything.
materials are too big.
I mean, that’s a lot of lines and faces.
even after cleaning, my sketchup crashed while saving, pretty sure it’s from the error check, plus I have other things opened on my computer.
- Get the legit student version. ditch your crappy crack. and you’ll be able to reopen your file
- purge everything.
- in the preference, turn on the automatic check and solve of errors.
- purge again for good measure.
- don’t use 3d warehouse models as they come. remove what’s not deeded, redraw what’s too detailed
- nobody needs a 4000px black image when you could use a black colour.

I’m sorry, I didn’t know that my file would be that large. I’m begging you to help me purge the file so I can open it. I still have a lot to learn, especially in this matter. Please.
Purging unused and reducing the material image sizes reduced the file size with about 45% but it is still almost 600 MB and as slow as before. The actual file bloat is in the components, for instance, the window grilles alone have more than 6 million entities. I would use a transparent PNG texture instead. And something ought to be done with all the other heavy components, but this is something that can only be done by you - we don’t know what is relevant or irrelevant, only you do that.
Would it be possible for the purged file to be given to me? I will take into consideration your suggestion about the window grilles. I really need the file for my defense tomorrow.
Apparently you are using a cracked version of SketchUp 2021. That’s illegal. It amounts to piracy and theft. Do what @ateliernab directed you to do and you’ll be able to open your file.

yes, my message was an incentive to fix your profile. there is no “free 2023”. there is the free/web online, and pro 2023.
many people with a “free + 20xx” version turns out to be on cracked versions, and that’s not good. hence me pointing it out.
and the trial version is here for trial, not for “opening your file because your cracked 21 version is not capable anymore”.
This is likely the reason why it went from 28 days to 7. to limit trial abuse.
