Plagiarism

A student handed in work I strongly doubt is authentic. How can I verify this?

Thank you for your help

Trust and experience.
There is no real “technique”.

  • Is it an imported model from another file format (Collada, obj, very common on the internet)?
    • Display hidden lines and check that not all faces are triangulated (all rectangles have a diagonal line). Such file formats are usually triangulated, but no person would manually add these diagonals in SketchUp purposely.
    • Check the materials browser that there is no “texture atlas” (patches of different materials combined into a single material image).
  • In the Desktop version of SketchUp, check the Model Info → Credits section. Imported components from Trimble 3D Warehouse which have credits would list other username here. But unfortunately only a small number of components display credits.
