Photo Textures are no longer available?

I get an error message “Photo Textures are no longer available.” when I right-click on a model and select “Add photo texture…” The error message also says “SketchUp’s Photo Texture feature is no longer available in this version of SketchUp. Check out this Help Center article for more info. Please consider upgrading to the latest version of SketchUp” but nothing happens when I click on either link.

I am using SketchUp Make 2017, which I downloaded onto my Windows 10 machine yesterday. I have never tried adding a photo texture before.

It is related to the subject of this long (and rather heated) thread concerning the loss of access to Google geographic information data sources.
