PathCopy along path to flow around curve

Is there a way to make the rivets in picture to lie flat along the curved boiler ?
I used PathCopy to place the rivets but this only places them on the same axis.

You might try Smart Drop although I expect you’ll still need to do some revising.

The menu entry is at the bottom of my Context me nu because I just installed it.
