I’m using SketchUp to create models of homes in their framed condition. 2x4s and plywood. I think I understand correctly that as long as my 2x4x8 ft group is unmodified it will tell me how many are in the model. Is there a way to break a group into two different pieces but yet they will both show up in the group Total as one piece of the total count?
If you used components instead of groups you would have to worry less, and you can get counts by viewing the Model Info>Statistics window, and lists of different sized pieces with one of the available report or cutlist generators.
Please forgive me if I misunderstand your question, but to me it sounds like “if I cut this board in half can I still count it as one?”…
