Not being able to use the measurement feature at the bottom right corner

I cannot seem to find tune my measurements. I try to go to the bottom right corner and click to enter and nothing happens. It is very frustrating and right now it has stopped me from using SketchUp.

Don’t go to the bottom corner or click in the measurements box at all. After you start to draw or modify/move an entity, let go of the mouse and type.
