You’re sure no one else has used it before you?
If it’s saying there’s a different iCloud account, it may still be registered to its previous user.

I think the family share, has my wife as the lead and her iCloud account is different than mine.

I also used a different email account at purchase.

If you are using family sharing and your wife is the main account, then Apple may have sent her AppleID to trimble and this is where your account is.

You’ll need to use her appleID or her email address to sign into things from outside of the ipad.

I was thinking the same thing. I will call the Apple Store support team to get their take. This can’t be the first time this has happened.
