3d warehouse & plan renewal

Hi, long time user. I renewed & paid for my Pro plan this AM. I have verified that the payment was approved. My subscription does not even run out until the end of March. Version 2021.1.331. Sketchup has been shut down and restarted several times. When I try to use the 3D warehouse, I am told I have to update my plan. How do I get out of this endless loop?

by installing 2022 or 2023

There has been a message in the warehouse since early 2023 telling people that the 3d warehouse would not work within sketchup 21 at the end of january 2024

we are now in march.

So you have two choices, either upgrade to 2022 (it will loose access in 2025) or later,
or use your browser to download the models directly and import them later.

Thank you for such a quick reply. I renewed Pro today. When I went to the page & clicked “Buy”, I assumed that it would update to the latest version. Sounds like I am wrong. How do I ensure I am buying the latest version?

Thanks again,

Hi,

First, when you reply by email, remove your signature. Right now your phone and email is displayed for all on the web (you can edit your message on the forum) :open_mouth:

Sketchup is a subscription, so as long as you subscribe, you can use any version covered by it. Right now, you use 21, you could also use 22 or 23 (and soon 24). you don’t HAVE to use the latest version.

So by renewing your sub, you simply prolonged your use of sketchup by one year. it won’t force you to upgrade or anything.

Updates. There are 2 kind

  • minor updates. like from 21.0 to 21.1 - these ones are inside sketchup, it’ll tell you “an update is available” and you just install it
  • major yearly updates. 21, 22, 23… these are actually new installs. Meaning you can have sketchup 21 and 22 and 23 installed at the same time.
you’ll find the installers on sketchup.com/download/all

However, your subscription only allows you to activate 2 sketchup at a time. So even if you can install more versions, only 2 can run at the same time.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you have to actually install the newer version if you want it. SketchUp doesn’t automatically update to the latest version. Also each major version installs as a separate program. Installing a newer version does not overwrite the older version.

Thanks for the help! Downloading the 2023 version now. Will uninstall the old one as soon as it’s up & running. Sorry about the signature bit… Thanks again.

you’re not in a hurry.
when you install a new version, it’s not a bad idea to keep the older one a few weeks, just in case. you could find a bug that prevents you to do something, or an extension might not be compatible anymore.

well that’s mostly for you, you don’t want bots to send you viagra ads and scams right ?
