No files in materials folder

I suddenly found that I have no materials in the materials tab. I have two materials .skp files in the materials folder but they don’t show up under the tab.

  1. How can I downdoad the default materials
  2. Why don’t files show up in the materials tab? I have restarted SU.

Are you still using SketchUp 2018 as your profile indicates?

There isn’t a specific download for just the default materials. It is included with the installer. You could repair the installation of SketchUp. That should re-populate the materials folder.

Hard to say with no more information than we have. They don’t just go missing on their own. Is it possible they were deleted when you were doing something else on your computer? In SketchUp’s Preferences>Files, what is the path shown for Materials?

Have you actually looked at the appropriate folders to see if the files are truly missing? The native materials would be in Program Data/SketchUp …

I tried to repair SU but it complained about a missing file in a TMP folder. Would that be some file that was left behind after an installation?
The materials folder I have put in D:\Documents\My Sketchup\materials. Styles and textures are also missing.
