New to Sketchup. Personal Only. Trying to expand the length (or shorten) of a component.
In what version? Your forum profile is confusing. SketchUpfor Web (Free Only) is not Desktop 2025.
Most likely you just need to open the component for editing and select the geometry at one end and use the Move tool to move it the required distance.
