Hey Everyone. I am new to modeling on sketchup and I am trying to make a prop from scratch. I have never done something so detailed. What I have created so far I am happy with. But when I export it to STL and put it in Bambu Studio and slice it, It came out weird. Can someone help me fix it and tell me what I did wrong? Thank you so much.
Share the .skp file so we can see exactly what you’ve modeled and help you fix it.
Thank you everyone. Sorry for my ignorance, but how can I share the file? Its 107MB
use wetransfer to upload it then share the link here on the forum.
Thank you, Alright, let’s try this.
There are a number of problems with your file. Tools like Solid Inspector and Solid Inspector2 can help you figure out what needs fixing and in some cases can actually fix problems. I made a component of the main body of this thing. Solid Inspector 2 shows a lot of the problems although not all.
I’m curious how you created this file. There’s an awful lot of excessive nesting, especially related to the gerar shaped things. I removed that excessive nesting and cleaned up the model to make everything solids. I also scaled the model up so that it’s 160 meters long. When the .stl is exported with units set to meters and imported into the slicer as millimeters, the thing will be the correct size. Working in SketchUp as if millimeters are meters helps to avoid issues with tiny faces. You should also turn off Length Snapping and set Display Precision higher. That will make working in the model easier, too.
Are you still using SketchUp 2024?
Where do I get SolidInspector2? Ok, I will switch to using meters instead of Millimeters. I have updated to the 2026 version.

Thank you for telling me about Solid Inspector2. It fixed my issues.
You’re sorted on the extension, I guess.
