Need Help with a Design

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the community and need some help with a draft I am doing for new construction (I am the homeowner, not a builder for clarification). I have the layout created, but need some help from the experts with adding in some components. The layout is of my garage, I’m looking for some design help adding shelving, workbench, storage, etc. Is it best to send a link or just send the dimensions? It’s been about 15 years since I’ve done any CAD work and this is not my field so it’s simply a miracle I was able to get the drawing to where it is. Thanks in advance for your help.

Let me know if this works. This is just the garage. Its a single side load and a deep two stall. The door at the end of the two stall leads to the backyard. The other door in the side load leads into the home. Looking mainly for shelving ideas. I have a about 30 27 gallon storage containers I will need shelves for, along with many other typical garage items. The house doesn’t have a basement which is why I’m needing so much storage space. Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome!

An Idea (what we did) is to find some racks (Like bakers’ shelves or industrial racks) that fit the bin size and can fit along the wall. Then you can rearrange, decrease or increase without a lot of work. Fasten at the top to the wall framing (especially if you have kids or earthquakes).
In designing space for the shelves don’t forget to allow for whatever door track and mechanism you have. For example our door limits what we can put on some of the top shelves. Include in your plan: outlets, wall vents, electrical panels --whatever might affect your decisions.
Just ideas, as our friend used to say.
Sorry I haven’t looke at the plan, as I’d need to take the time have to save it back to 2019 .

Here are some initial ideas. I put in three largish vehicles (Range Rover Sport) to give a feel for where you can’t add storage without interfering with access to the cars. I just drew label texts, I didn’t explicitly add models for shelves, cabinets, etc. at this stage because there are thousands of brands and models possible (as well as custom built) and you want to think about the organization of the spaces before committing to specific units. You would have a better idea than I about what all is in those containers.

Steve,

Thank you so much, this is super helpful for visualization. I appreciate the quick turnaround.

Thanks for the ideas, all great and things that definitely need to be considered. I’ve uploaded a 2019 version if you want to take a look.
I appreciate it!

As Steve says, having cars in there will help. People do put cars in garages sometimes.

For your model: Reverse faces so you see only white faces from the above view. Walls and floor all white. At this point I’d make a component of all the walls, and another of the floor, to keep the geometry separate. If, going forward you are working on furnishings within the garage only, you might lock the walls and floor to avoid moving them inadvertently.
