Need help to convert logo into workable dxf file using AI

Hi guys, i need help to have this file workable in sketchup. I’ve tried using online converter but sketchup keeps giving me the error stated as below

Warning:

Some imported geometry is extremely far from the
model origin. If you experience any instability with
your SketchUp model, please delete that geometry
from your .dwg/.dxf file and import again.

can you share your dxf file ? maybe we can optimise it in illustrator, we can check.

just drag it here in the answer area and give it a few second to load.

I do not have the dxf file. I am trying to use this artwork and convert it into dxf so i could load it into sketchup.

What version of SketchUp are you really using? You put “Free Plan” 2022 in your profile. Does that mean you are using a cracked version of SketchUp for Desktop?

No, I am using sketchup 2022 Pro. I was using https://convertio.co/ to convert the image into dxf file.

Fix your forum profile then.

That site should make a dxf from that image. The image as shared isn’t very high resolution and the conversion from pixels to vector line work will result in very jagged edges. What is your ultimate goal for this in SketchUp?

Sorry, i was in a hurry to sign up. So i might missed out on the details.

My goal is to make this 2d artwork into a 3d model for a signboard that has lights.

You could edit the image to make it black and transparent pixels like this.

Then import the image into SketchUp and use Image Trimmer from SKM Tools which is available from Sketchucation to trim it and leave faces that can be extruded. Hopefully you have a much larger version of the image than the one shared here.

Might result in better quality if you crop out the text at the bottom and replace it with 3D Text using the same font whatever it is. The angular part would be better if you just drew it with SketchUp’s Line tool.

Hi there, I’ve installed and tried using the plugin. But the status bar keeps on showing the text below. And after that, nothing happened.

If your PNG image mode is ‘indexed’ then you need to convert it to ‘RGB’ - use Gimp or similar.
Then it’ll probably work OK…

That would imply you’ve got a lot of pixels to deal with.

I reduced your image to just the W and drew rest of the logo with the Line tool. As TIG indicated, the image needs to be converted to RGB. I converted the background pixels to transparent.

As I wrote you’d get better quality for the text at the bottom if you use 3D Text instead of converting a raster image of it. And if you have a higher res image of the logo, that would help.

Here you go. The file is very low res and pixelated, so the text was not traced very well in Illustrator.
