I’ve been working on a design for a work holding fixture for my shop and needed a toggle clamp. Got sidetracked modeling a toggle clamp. Clearly went overboard for the application but oh well.

I’m not sure I can parse those strange words…overboard when modeling…does not compute!

Nice ones, as usual, Dave.

Here’s one I modelled myself when building a jig some years ago. The SU version number and the file date indicate how long ago - July 2014.

Seeing it again has tempted me to ramble on about why I used it, and what for.

Here’s the routing jig I used it in. I made two, to hold large pieces on the router table.

I used it to make curved parts for some complicated doors in a set design for Beauty and the Beast.

Beauty and the Beast set.skp (7.3 MB)

The set was a complicated design with false perspective. So the pictures on the wall beside the stairs shrink as you go up. And the (false) curved stairs also shrink in height as you eye travels up, to make the set look deeper. Our stage is quite shallow, and the proscenium arch is only 12’ high - a considerable limitation when we have a two storey set! Indeed, I managed to design (though we didn’t put on) a set to show three storeys!
