Edit: I updated this when I noticed that the Latchbolt Catch didn’t meet the Latchbolt
correctly and the orientation didn’t match the image. I edited the screenshots and deleted the old screenshots.
This is based on the image of a Steve Latta - Circle Cutter that used to be made by Lie-Nielsen. I used my own dimensions that seemed about right to me.
The last of the Steve Latta stringing tool set that Lie-Nielsen used to make is a Stringing Thicknesser that is fastened to a benchtop with an F-clamp. The dims. are my best guess.
I remeber Michael Fortune had an article about a tool like this in Fine Woodworking Magazine, but I don’t remember the date or issue number.
Edit: Re-posted the skp with correction as seen in @mihai.s ’ video.
Steve Latta, “Add Pop to Panels,” Jul-Aug 2018, Issue #269 FWW magazine - is the reference for this panel with Stringing. He routed with a Dremel with an end mill 0.030-in. and 1/16 in. cutting diameter. He had a Stewmac.com Plunge Router Base #5806 with the Dremel.
He explains in the article that he had to stop short of corners and start again after them, and then he came back with either a chisel or small gouge to cut the corners. He also glued the three inlay strings together in small length segments and clamped them with paper clips. Can you imagine?
I tried to find the latch that Adrian Ferrazzutti used in his article. Lee Valley no longer carries it. I found one similar by Viola of UK. This one has a fancier escutcheon. It would be a challenge making the mortise I’m guessing with gouges and chisels.
After watching a blog video on the Fine Woodworking site, I decided to model this jig fixture (something like Patrick Edwards was using when he was veneering a column).
I modeled this for planing the top of a log. It could also be made into a bandsaw sled by adding a runner under the Base that would be sized to fit into the miter slot. If used for handplaning, a fence or planing stop would be clamped with the vise ahead of the log holding fixture for additional support. Since I’ve started tagging the group text, I can make the dimensions scences with tags on. I tagged the text group dark blue. Of course,
if I want to print the dims., I would keep it black and white.
Another version of Pencil Holders and Base. I was practicing with Native Trim. In this case there is no difference with the newest changes because of no repeated symetrical copies. I also am starting to use Shaded with Textures style for the blank white background for the scenes.
This is a take off from Nancy Hiller’s article in Fine Woodworking Magazine. She made it taller and as an architectural piece that hangs on the wall. I made it into a Toy House with a staircase inside going to the 2d floor (shelf). I was thinking of grandkids with Lego figures.
My first attempt at modeling this coopered basket with a handle inspired by Peter Lutz in his Fine Woodworking Magazine article. I didn’t get all the dimensions right.
the short staves are a little longer and the angle where the staves meet is 11.1 degrees and should be 11.25 degrees. That would change the diameter of the bottom, I think. Alignment of the long staves with the short stave is a hair off, too.
