I’m new to SketchUp and encountering a difficult problem that I need help with. I have a logo (as shown in the attached image) and I need to shape all of its faces to resemble the L-block in the picture. I’m wondering if there’s a way to shape all faces at once, as doing them individually would be very time-consuming.
It’s difficult to tell from your screenshots exactly what you are doing but it looks like a couple of Push/Pull operations and maybe a couple of Offset operations. You can’t do all of the letters in one step but batching operations would make it faster. Go through and extrude the letters to the first height. After doing the first extrusion with Push/Pull you can double click on the face of each of the other letters. Then do the first offset on the top of each letter. Offset works with the double click thing like Push/Pull. Working through the letters with the same tool will speed it up.
Save adding textures to the letters until all of the geometry is correctly modeled.
“I work for a sign design company, so this kind of shaping happens frequently. The specifications for letters and logos will often be similar, with only a few types. However, the shape of the logo faces will vary depending on each client. I’m looking for a tool or method that allows me to adjust these letter and logo faces according to some pre-existing templates.”
I don’t think you’ll find anything like that. I suppose you could make pre-configured components for each letter and save them into a collection. Then just drag them out as needed for the project.
