Planing stop on Garrett Hack’s bench.

Holding Alt (Option on Mac) allows you to drag out the dimension so it aligns with the model. Gotta turn of Grid Snap first.
edit: corrected per Aaron.
Option! That was what I was missing… on Mac it’s the Option key… Why do we have different modifiers??
Oops! Sorry about that. Agreed. Except for some OS-specific things like Command-C/Ctrl+C it’s usually Alt on PC and Command on Mac, Ctrl on PC and Option on Mac.
Np! I trip over that ALL THE TIME!
Woodworking Benches are so sexy. Hopefully next time I’ll make an 8’ beast and maybe do a sliding deadman and other sexiness. I have slight concerns about the 5’ length on this bench.
A good excuse to build another bench. Maybe in that case you can cut this one down so it is short enough to use as an outfeed table for your table saw.
If I started to make a workbench I would never get to the part where it is used to make the actual things it is meant for.
I have a workbenches for all the; a workbench for smaller jobs in a room I can heat, a big workbench for assembling things and general use and a workbench for piling things on in the garage. This one one will have very specific clamping options that will really only mostly apply to woodworking. I’m not sure of another specialized one to make yet… but probably a welding cart. (c;
The only down side to having so many workbenches is they are horizontal surfaces and horizontal surfaces seem to have a gravity of their own attracting items which soon turn to clutter. (At least in my shop anyway)
After that, you learn about angle of repose.
Shep
I’ve often thought my workbench should be rigged to the lights so that when I turn off the lights in the shop, the bench top folds down. Self-cleaning workbench!
So… i find that, the more horizontal surfaces I have, the shallower the pile on any given surface. (c: So… its like shop organization to just have a bunch of flat surfaces (but you should see the floor in my smaller “clean” room.
I’m going to have to get me some more horizontal surfaces in my shop.
Just another showroom work shop…So clean and unproductive.
If you read the Anarchists Workbench, or see any article by Christopher Schwarz, you’ll see this room gets plenty of work done. I imagine you don’t want to post a dirty shop picture when you’re going to social media or a box… but i would definitely not call the folks at Lost Art Press/Crucible Tools unproductive.
I need more horizontal surfaces (benches). that way I won’t have to clean the floor so often.
