Missing Default Material Button

Just updated to SU Pro 2025.
My Default material button seems to be missing.

(Also, can’t see how to edit my profile to show the version of SU I’m using.)

Just go to “In Model”

hello,

it’s been talked about, it has indeed disappeared but if you hit the little home the default material is going to be listed

to edit profile, click on your avatar top right hand corner > profile (last button at the bottom)> preferences > profile

Thanks Paul!
Both of those directions worked.

Must note that I was surprised to see it takes five clicks to get to the place where I edit my profile, and doubly surprised to see SU has deleted the “Default Material” button, and made us search around for a workaround. I had to open the “In Model” selection in the Materials window to find it. That’s ridiculous of course, two counterintuitive clicks, for one of the most used functions in SU.

You’re not the only one who complained about that (or at least wondered where the hell it went) so we can hope they’ll bring it back !
Hello @colin , is it something taken into account ?

it is.

in fact, it’s not deleted, it’s moved to the same place as on mac.
I’m guessing PC users are not as flexible as mac users when it comes to harmonisation :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face:

I checked versions 2021 and later, and those ones did have the default color in a dedicated area in the Materials tray:

2025 does have the default material as the first entry in the In Model materials, even if you start with a template that has an empty scene. That entry cannot be purged.

I’m not sure what the reason was for the change, but I did find a bug report about putting it back. I do see it there in versions later than the release version, so there is some hope.

Let’s not open another MAC vs PC front m’kay?
