Mirrored and rotated objects in third party program

We are going to import Sketchup-files in our lighting consoles and encounter a problem.

The drawing is made in Sketchup 2024 PRO, not by me.

When we import this sketch into our ETC EOS consoles, somepart is in wrong position.

I talk to the guy who make the original and he mention that he draw one side and then mirror it. Afterwards he move some objects and draw some more on the other side.

I read something quick on my cellphone on my way home yesterday about how Sketchup change how they save rotated and mirrored object value. If they swaped from 0 to 360 degree to -180 to 180 degree or vice versa.

ETC start to implement what they called Augumented 3D and don´t know if import of Sketchup was one of the function 2020 when they release the Beta or later.

So my question if someone can confirm if there was a swapped between 0-360 and -180-180 and when? Unfortunally I can´t downgrade our sketch to a point before 2020 in 2024 PRO-version so I can confirm this is the problem in our EOS.

Unfortunally I just can post one drawing for a newbees. :frowning:

This is how it should look like. Use a webviewer to take the screenshot so we exclude something in our software.

Yes, I knew but I read somewhere it´s just work down to SU2021. Lots of complain becuase company has customer runing older then 2021 and Timber removed downgrading in SU2024. I understand that they will sell all the new software and force company to upgrade.

Unfortunally I need to go lower then SU2021 because that´s when ETC start BETA-test Augumented3D just to test. I don´t know how ETC translate rotation/mirrored object and if SU build something so they could handle both 0 to 360 and -180 to 180 in earlier versions until SU2021. When I open SU2024 PRO-files in SU2023 I got a warning, but nothing what type of objects I can´t see.

Edit: I don´t have 2024 PRO at home, so I need to check this on monday. Maybee I had a computer with 2022 PRO that I can do test from

s4u Save As SketchUp

Try that on web yesterday, but didn´t found “save as”. Need to try this also on monday in our Windows app.

Try diffrent online converters yesterday, because SU is not the only thing we can import to Augumented3D. But the problem is the file is to big for free converting.

Export to Collada and Autodesk FBX makes the file over 250MB from 6MB, so that is not an option.

If you just want to save an SU2024 file to SU2020, then s4u would be enough, no need for online conversion in other format.

just keyword ‘save’

One thing you may be able to do is just use Scale Definition on anything that has been flipped. That may fix the issues when you import the model to your other software.
You can see here a mirrored component shows the Scale definition option.

Upload your original .skp file or DM it to me if you don’t want to share it publicly and I can take a look

Thanks, unfortunally this mess drawing direct in Sketchup whitout importing it to EOS.

I got one 2022 PRO installed at work, so I can downgrade whitout going via Extension Warehouse. Unfortunally this dosen´t work either to downgrade it to SU2013 and import the file to my ETC EOS. :frowning:

Send ETC a email about this, see if I got an answer and a solution.

I ask the guy who make this file if it´s okey do upload part of it. If it´s okey I upload it and hope someone can advise to avoid this in the future.

That’s new!
In SU2022 you can save to a previous version, down to v3.

Sorry, I mean it dosen´t work to import a SU2013 into Augumented. Same fault as SU2024 with mirrored objects.

Then you could try the option indicated by Box, apply Scale Definition, but you will have to take each object one by one, because none of the existing extensions for Scale Definition to multiple objects work correctly.

Got a tip from ETC about a function called “Combine Meshes” in Augumented import.

It´s better, but I miss some stuff. But I cant import them sepratly.

Thanks everyone for now.
