Migrate extensions with extension migrate extension 2025

When I migrate all my extensions into sketchup 2025 with the extension migrate
extension. The extensions come in fine, I arrange my extensions but, when I exit
sketchup and reopen sketchup my extensions are not arranged anymore. Does anybody know why this is happening.

What operating system? Fill out your forum profile correctly. “residential design build” is not a graphics card.

It sounds like you are probably using Windows and did not install SketchUp correctly. The toolbar location thing has absolutely nothing to do with the Extension Migrator.

If you are actually working on Windows, close SketchUp and LayOut. Find the SketchUp 2025 installer in your Downloads folder. Right click on it, choose Run as administrator, then choose the Repair option. After that, power the computer completely off and restart it. Open SketchUp, arrange the toolbars as needed. Many users find it helpful to save a SketchUp file after setting up their toolbars and before closing SketchUp.

Dave,
I tried your suggestions still having the same problem. Extensions won’t stay in position. Do you have anymore suggestions. Thank you, Steve

Go into the hidden User/AppData folder and navigate to the selected file. Delete it and then restart SketchUp and set up the toolbars. Save a file and see if that sorts it out.

DaveR,
Still the same problem. Anymore ideas.

Things get a little more drastic from here.

Delete the entire SketchUp folder under Local/ … /SketchUp 2025 also delete the SharedPreferences.json in AppData/Roaming/ … /SketchUp 2025/SketchUp. Do a cold reboot and try again.

BTW, some of the extensions clearly don’t work when simply copied from the older version. I would suggest going into the Plugins folder to delete them andthen install them fresh from their sources. Any extensions you have from Sketchucation should be installed using the Sketchucation Extension Store tool so you get the current versions of them. This includes anything from TIG and Fredo6. In fact you should just use the Sketchucation Extension Store to install your bundle of extensions from Sketchucation.

DaveR,
Thank you for your help. I know I have alot of out a date extensions. How can I get a fresh installation. I uninstalled sketchup, but when I reinstall windows picks up the previous installation. How do I get rid of the installation completely.
Thank you, Steve

Do you mean the previous extension installations?

After uninstalling SketchUp you would need to go into the User/AppData/Roaming and User AppData/Local and delete the SketchUp 2025 folders completely. Also do a Registry cleanup.

As for the extensions themselves. if they weren’t up to date in the previous version of SketchUp they won’t be up to date using the Migrator. Also some extensions need to be installed with their own installers to be installed correctly.

As I wrote, for extensions that came from Sketchucation you should install them with the Sketchucation Extension Store tool. If you used that tool to install them in the previous version you will have a bundle of extensions that can be installed automatically. They aren’t simply copied from the previous SketchUp version. Instead the latest versions are installed from Sketchucation.

Thank you, DaveR let me see what I can do.
