As a builder I can say that Architects should DEFINITELY NOT have access to these kinds of drawing tools
Great work though. This is nothing short of astonishing.
I don’t think any of this is all that astonishing but it is fun to try and generate more organic shapes within the extensions. I will say it has been a bit more challenging but once you dive into that rabbit hole you start to figure out a few things and pretty soon it isn’t as daunting as it initially appeared.
On a related note as I’ve stated in the recent tutorial the regen time of this spline railings can suffer because of the large poly handrails and/or shoerails. In the next update I will be introducing and option where the user can toggle a “split” option for both the handrail and shoerail. This will split those two curved solids into separate segments (at the intermediate posts). For larger spline railing assemblies my internal testing has shown an almost 100% performance (draw, edit, regen).
These two parameters will be found in the intermediate post sub-menu, see image below:
Already 45 major updates to the Wall plugin this year, granted most of them are stair/railing related.
Tutorial 90: Spline Railing Control Points - (5:33 min.)
Version 4.6.6b - 06.24.2026
- Added a Handrail Split and a Shoerail Split option into the draw and edit menus of the Spline Railing module.
- Fixed a bug with the outline edit function for Spline Railings.
It feels like I should be done with stairs and railings but after reviewing my notes I still need to add in the following:
- Deck, Glass and Cable for spline railings.
- Glass and Cable for regular polyline railings.
After that I think we might actually be done with these two modules for awhile… and then I can move back over to complex trusses and plumbing.
