Materials folder won't show thumbnails of textures anymore

Hi there,

Lately, when I add textures to the materials folder, they don’t show their texture image/thumbnail.
The older textures show up.

Does anyone know how to get the thumbnail back?

Thanks,
Velina

Share some of those material files in a zip file so we can have a look at them.

Okay.

Textures.zip (3.9 MB)

When I unzipped them, the texture thumbnail went away again.

This is what I see when I open the folder into which I put your textures.

And the thumbnails show in SketchUp, too.

Perhaps a cold reboot of your computer would sort things.

Off topic: Why the need for vertical and horizontal wood grain materials? You shouldn’t need both.

An extension (Cabinet Sense) that we use requires a vertical and horizontal image of the textures. It will automatically apply them according to the dimensions of the parts.

Hmmm. The textures show in the model, just not when I save them to the folder. I believe I am the only one here of 14 seats that has this issue.

This implies there’s something with your computer and not the textures. What’s different? As long as they work in SketchUp do the thumbnails in File Explorer matter?

Just an update, I did a repair install of SU and then restarted. Everything stayed the same.

And then I found this solution from TIG from 2023.

Do what Dave recommended about Repairs the app…
To get SKM files’ thumbnails to show their images in Windows Explorer try this…
Change the SKMs’ folder’s View to show [Extra] Large Icons.
Select one SKM file and right-click > context-menu > Open with…
Choose SketchUp Application and also tick the option to always use that app…
SketchUp will not open a SKM file directly, but the filetype associations should be fixed, and now your SKM files’ thumbnails should display their images.

Thanks @DaveR and @TIG
